Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I need lights or will the courses be lighted?
A: You bet your arse you'll need some bike lights! We expect that only one-to-two hours of the event will take place in the dark, but all riders MUST have approved lights on their bike, for safety. Riding after dark will require the use of approved front-mounted bike lights.

Q: Will laps be timed?
A: Every lap of every rider will be timed, every time, thanks to CJ Sports Timing. That way we'll be able to determine winners if there's a tie in the number of laps.

Q: What if another rider "catches" me? Do I have to let them pass?
A: Darn right you do. Period, end of story. Please allow all riders going faster than you to get by as soon as you can find a safe place to do so. This race is about how many laps each team can throw down, not just one timed run. Don't be a jerk, let those fast guys pass.

Q: Does entry fee include lift tickets?
Trail access for Friday’s practice and Saturday’s race day will be via Mountain Village’s free gondola. Gondola access is provided at no additional cost to the competitors, and no lift ticket is required. Your number plate will serve as your lift ticket.

Q: Does a mixed-category team have to enter at the category of the highest rider, lowest rider, or majority?
A mixed-category team will race in the class of the highest level rider.

Q: What if a rider cannot make it to the mandatory riders meeting Friday because they have to work? Do they still get to race?
We require that all riders attend the mandatory meeting Friday at 8 p.m., location to be announced at on-site registration. Due to the extreme nature of this event, there are many rules, logistics and important information that all racers will need to be aware of. In the event that a rider does not come to the mandatory meeting they will be held responsible for knowing all information and abiding by all rules and expectations, and will be penalized for not following them.

Q: What are the prizes and purses? Anything?
Cash will be paid to top finishers – first, second and third – in the open classes. Medals will be awarded for first, second and third place for all categories. And last, but not least, at the awards ceremony every rider will have the opportunity to win a killer gift, compliments of the event’s sponsors.
